Imperial Tobacco Supports Business Journalism Competition «PRESSzvanie»

Imperial Tobacco Ukraine became a partner of «PRESSzvanie» business journalism competition, the results of which were announced on April 21, 2012 during the awards presentation ceremony for the winners.

As a partner in the Consumer Markets category, the company, represented by its General Manager Eugene Walsh, bestowed commemorative diplomas and presents to the three winners in this category – Daria Iskakova (Forbes Ukraine), Alla Silivonchik (Business) and Maria Popova (Kommersant Ukraine).

Imperial Tobacco also introduced a special prize for professional coverage of the excise duty issues (alcohol and tobacco markets) in the business media. The award was presented to Anastasia Araslanova for a series of publications in The Economic News business newspaper.

“Coverage of issues related to products subject to excise tax in the press is not an easy task. Frequent amendments to the legislative norms, excise duty rates, and their impact on the tobacco industry’s development and national economy require that a journalist demonstrate constant attention and an analytical approach. Our company appreciates the journalists’ efforts to cover these issues in a professional and unbiased manner. That’s why we initiated the introduction of a special prize for professionalism and fairness in the coverage of the excise duty market in Ukrainian business media,” said Eugene Walsh, General Manager of Imperial Tobacco in Ukraine and Moldova, commenting on the company’s cooperation with the competition.

The «PRESSzvanie» award is an international competition that allows to determine the best business journalists in Ukraine. The winners are determined by an independent transparent online vote by jury members. The main evaluation criteria are fairness, accuracy, timeliness, depth of discourse, fact-presentation skills, and relevance.
